Scheduled to premiere on July 12, 2026, this gritty new crime series dives headfirst into the murky depths of morality, tragedy, and the relentless pursuit of truth. As audiences increasingly look toward high-concept local productions for gripping narrative tension, Koori arrives as one of the most anticipated streaming entries of the year.

Plot & Themes (Spoiler-Free)

At its core, Koori follows the arduous journey of a dedicated investigator determined to track down the architects of a catastrophic tragedy that permanently altered the lives of numerous ordinary citizens. More than just a standard whodunit, the series functions as a profound meditation on the heavy cost of retribution and the elusive nature of closure.

• The relentless quest for systemic and personal justice
• The ripple effects of collective trauma on a community
• Moral gray areas where the line between law enforcement and vigilantism blurs

The narrative challenges viewers to consider what happens when a society is forced to open its eyes to uncomfortable truths it has long chosen to ignore.

Creative Vision & Direction

The series is helmed by visionary creator and showrunner Sajjad Pahlavanzadeh, whose previous work has demonstrated a keen eye for atmospheric tension and pacing. Pahlavanzadeh brings a cinematic polish to the small screen, utilizing stark lighting, deliberate framing, and a moody soundscape to mirror the psychological darkness of the plot. Under his direction, Koori moves away from conventional television tropes, opting instead for a slow-burn narrative style that keeps viewers guessing at every turn.

Bringing together some of the most respected names in Iranian cinema and television, the series features powerhouse performances from Merila Zarei, Amir Jafari, and Sara Bahrami. They are joined by a formidable supporting lineup that includes Abbas Jamshidifar, Amir Norouzi, Erfan Naseri, Maryam Kaviani, Mohsen Ghasabian, Parviz Fallahi Pour, and Seyyed Ali Salehi.
