The journey winds through the stories that each passenger brings into the taxi—stories that might well resemble the lives of many of us…
مسیر از دل قصههایی میگذره که هر مسافر با خودش به تاکسی میاره؛ قصههایی که شاید شبیه زندگی خیلی از ما باشن…
Sometimes a good story doesn’t need a long journey. You only have to get into a taxi. That is the idea behind Taxi, a new Iranian home-video series built around a cab, its driver, and the strangers who ride in the back seat.
Taxi is an episodic series in which a cab and its driver are the central thread, and each episode follows the story of the passengers who climb in. Instead of one continuous plot, every episode is a short, self-contained story. The result sits somewhere between comedy, social observation and micro-fiction, with odd, familiar characters passing through the same car.
The series is adapted from Soroush Sehhat’s book Taxi-Savari (Taxi Riding) and consists of 12 episodes released on the Shida platform in autumn 2026 (1405 in the Iranian calendar). The book has been reprinted more than 50 times, so the adaptation arrives with a ready-made audience. The screenplay was written by Sehhat together with Iman Safaei.
Hassan Nouri directs, Majid Salehi produces, and Ali Mosaffa is involved as artistic consultant. Nouri worked for years as Sehhat’s assistant in film and television, and Taxi is his first directing experience in the micro-series format.
Because each episode brings new passengers, the series draws on many well-known faces. The announced cast includes Reza Attaran, Ali Mosaffa, Kazem Sayyahi, Majid Salehi, Siamak Ansari, Hamed Vakili, Naeimeh Nezamdoust, Nafas Bazghi, Hadi Kazemi and Mohammad Shabanpour.

Sometimes a great narrative does not require an epic journey across continents; it only requires a short ride through the city. That is the clever, engaging premise behind Taxi (Persian: تاکسی), an anticipated upcoming Iranian home-video series scheduled to premiere on October 21, 2026. Directed and created by Hassan Nouri, the series transforms a humble Tehran cab into a dynamic micro-stage where everyday life, comedy, and human idiosyncrasies intersect.
The core concept of the series relies on a simple yet effective framing device: a taxi and its steady driver form the central thread connecting a revolving door of distinct passengers. Each episode functions as a self-contained vignette, exploring the quirky, poignant, and deeply relatable stories that strangers bring into the back seat. As the official synopsis notes, the journey winds through tales that might well resemble the lives of many viewers:
“مسیر از دل قصههایی میگذره که هر مسافر با خودش به تاکسی میاره؛ قصههایی که شاید شبیه زندگی خیلی از ما باشن…”
Balancing sharp humor with insightful social observation, the show uses the confined space of the vehicle to examine modern urban isolation, fleeting human connections, and the universal quirks of daily existence in contemporary Iran.
At the helm of this ambitious home-video project is creator and showrunner Hassan Nouri. Known for his keen eye for character dynamics and pacing, Nouri crafts a episodic rhythm that keeps viewers hooked despite the shifting storylines. By turning a single location into a narrative hub, the production tests the limits of spatial storytelling, relying heavily on tight dialogue, nuanced acting, and clever framing to keep the episodic format fresh and engaging.
One of the most striking aspects of Taxi is its powerhouse ensemble cast. Bringing a rotating roster of passengers and core characters to life requires exceptional comedic timing and dramatic depth, qualities that this stellar line-up delivers in spades. The series features an impressive roster of celebrated Iranian actors and comedians, including:
This diverse blend of comedic heavyweights and seasoned dramatic performers ensures that every passenger feels entirely authentic and memorable.
Designed specifically for the booming Iranian home-video streaming market, Taxi represents a shift toward high-concept, anthology-style episodic content outside of traditional television broadcast. By utilizing a controlled primary setting, the production emphasizes strong writing and actor-driven performances, setting a high benchmark for contemporary streaming comedy in the region.
As the October 21, 2026 release date approaches, anticipation for Taxi continues to build among fans of Persian cinema and comedy alike. For viewers who appreciate character-driven storytelling, witty dialogue, and a mirror held up to everyday urban life, Hassan Nouri’s latest creation promises to be an essential addition to your streaming watchlist. Step in, buckle up, and prepare for a ride through the shared human experience.
